Forrest Zhong is a managing partner of KPCB China. He is also a managing director & general partner of TDF Capital. Forrest is passionate about market opportunities enabled by innovations in digital and web technologies; as well as the interdisciplinary applications of material/semiconductor, biology, and advanced manufacturing technologies in developing commercially viable greentech and renewable solutions. He currently serves as director on the boards of Universtar Tech, China Visual, Tang Energy, TianRen Ecology, GenScript, Sungrow Power, 9Diamond, Tangsong Interactive, MADHouse Media, etc. As lead investor and active board member, Forrest has backed a number of successful IPOs and M&A, including A8 Digital Music (HKSE:0800), China Wireless (HKSE: 2369), China GrenTech (NASDAQ: GRRF), and Fiberxon (Acquired by MRV Communication (NASDAQ: MRVC)).

Forrest was named in the Midas list by the Global Entrepreneurs and ChinaVenture in 2007; and was selected as one of the Top Venture Capitalists in China by Forbes in 2008 and 2009.

Prior to starting his venture capital career in 1999, Forrest spent about ten years in senior management and operational positions with leading technology companies. He was the Deputy General Manager of China Aerospace International - the commercial arm of the Chinese national aerospace agency, where he was in charge of the overall operations of its publicly listed company in Hong Kong. Forrest started his career in early 1989 with Nortel Networks in China as a system engineer focusing on digital switching technology and product development.

Forrest received his Bachelor and Masters Degrees in engineering from Huazhong University of Science & Technology in China, a PhD in Robotics and Artificial Intelligence from Edinburgh Napier University, UK, and an MBA from the Ivey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario.
