Michael Li
 
 

Michael Li is a partner of KPCB China. His focus areas of investment include clean energy and environmental technologies, social internet and internet of things. Michael brings more than 18 years of combined experience in venture capital, investment banking and technologies. He is currently involved in the following companies: Kingnet, PVNext and 2 stealth companies, etc.

Prior to joining KPCB, Michael served as a general partner of Pine Tree Equity, focusing on special situation investment including SOE restructuring, distressed assets and non-performing loans. Before that, he was a partner at EM Partners (a Deutsche Bank fund), a principle at NewMargin Ventures and an executive vice president at China eLabs, focusing on investment in software, telecom, internet services and semiconductor at various stages. Michael has backed a number of successful IPOs and M&A.

Before his career in venture capital, Michael spent 5 years at Lehman Brothers in New York. In the earlier years of his career, Michael had been working at a number of technology companies including Bell Sigma, Northern Telecom/BNR, Delrina (now Symantec).

Michael holds a Master of Applied Science degree in system engineering from University of Waterloo, Canada and a Bachelor Degree in computer engineering from Tsinghua University, China.

Michael is a member of TEEC (Tsinghua Entrepreneur and Executive Club), an organization founded by Tsinghua alumni, advocating technology innovation and entrepreneurship.
