MENLO PARK, CA — October 1, 2012 – Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers (KPCB) announced today the launch of its 2013 Engineering Fellows program following the successful completion of its summer 2012 program. The 2013 KPCB Engineering Fellows Program is now accepting applicants and is open to outstanding undergraduate and graduate students enrolled at U.S. universities who are studying computer science, engineering, mathematics, physics or fields related to software development. Visit www.kpcbfellows.com for details.
As the competition for engineering talent continues, the KPCB Engineering Fellows Program is intended to provide students with the opportunity to gain significant experience working on some of the most unique and interesting technical challenges and to develop new and meaningful relationships in the KPCB-funded start-up community.
In its inaugural year, the KPCB Engineering Fellows program received over 1,000 applications from students representing more than 100 top-ranked computer science universities across the United States. 30 talented students were selected and paired with innovative technology startup companies located in Silicon Valley, including Klout, One Kings Lane, Path, Zynga and many others. Based on the program’s success, more than 90 percent of the 2012 Fellows class will receive full-time career opportunities or internships for next summer at KPCB-funded companies.
KPCB Engineering Fellows worked on a wide variety of technically challenging and highly visible projects that have gone into production, including the launch of Klout Mobile; an energy efficiency insight algorithm on Opower’s data platform which is linked to 50 million households; and other data analysis and product designs. Mentorship and networking is also a large component of the program, and the program hosted Tech Talks for fellows at KPCB portfolio companies such as Facebook, Zynga, Square and Twitter.
Application process and deadlines
The deadline for 2013 Engineering Fellows submissions is 11:59 pm PDT on Oct. 31, 2012.
