Maritza Liaw joined Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers in 2010 and is a partner in KPCB’s Green Growth Fund (GGF), which supports young companies leading new markets in sustainable ways. Maritza invests in companies ready to scale their impact and operations. Her recent investments and research focus on innovation within global supply chains, food production and delivery, and the wireless device ecosystem. She serves on the board of uShip and is a board observer at Hyla Mobile.
Before joining KPCB, Maritza spent five years in senior operational roles within small companies, working to build the operational infrastructure necessary for meaningful exits. Most recently, Maritza served as Chief Operating Officer at Energy Logics and director of Finance at NaturEner USA | Canada. During her tenure, she led the sale of Energy Logics to NaturEner, a Spanish Independent Power Producer (IPP), arranged financing for the largest utility-scale wind farms in Montana, and negotiated tax-equity and renewable energy certificates (RECs) sales for new wind projects. Before Energy Logics and NaturEener, Maritza was a sales consultant at supply chain software company, SaviNetworks, a joint venture of Savi Technology (purchased by Lockheed Martin) and Hutchinson Port Holdings. She also served as a consultant at the Boston Consulting Group.
Maritza received a B.A. degree in Economics and a B.S. degree in Science, Technology and Society from Stanford University. She also holds an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School, where she was a Baker Scholar. She is married with three young sons and enjoys all the joyous chaos that implies.
