Mark Allen Operating Partner (Greentech)
Mark Allen is an operating partner with Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers. He joined the firm in 2009 bringing KPCB nearly 30 years of experience in high-tech operations and semiconductor manufacturing.
Before coming to KPCB, Mark was the chief executive officer and president of Transmeta Corp. Transmeta developed and sold software-based microprocessors and developed additional hardware and software technologies that enabled manufacturers to build computers that simultaneously offered long battery life, high performance and x86 compatibility. Earlier in his career, Mark was vice president of operations for NVIDIA Corp., a manufacturer of high-performance graphics processors. While there, Mark’s efforts to optimize manufacturing operations were primarily responsible for NVIDIA being recognized by the Fabless Semiconductor Association as one of the most respected private fabless companies. Before joining NVIDIA, Mark served as vice president of operations for C-Cube Microsystems, a digital video technology company. During Mark’s tenure, C-Cube also received the FSA’s highest award as one of the most respected public fabless companies. Before his work at C-Cube, Mark was vice president of worldwide manufacturing operations for seven years at Cypress Semiconductor Corp., a manufacturer and supplier of integrated circuits. Cypress had multiple wafer fabrication, assembly and test factories in the United States and Asia. Mark began his career by spending 10 years at National Semiconductor, where he held various positions in wafer fab manufacturing and R&D.
Mark holds a bachelor of science degree in electrical Engineering from Purdue University.
