Rob Johnson joined Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers in 2014 and focuses on moving KPCB’s green tech ventures towards commercialization. Rob has over two decades of experience in data infrastructure and green tech management, financial planning and business development, with a strong track record of delivering growth by defining and executing strategic plans, recruiting and developing high-performance teams and driving product development and commercialization.
Before joining KPCB, Rob founded Systems Enhancement Corporation, a software and controls company focused on data centers. After seven years of successful growth, the company became the first acquisition of American Power Conversion, a world leader in data center infrastructure. At American Power Conversion, Rob focused on growing new business units including cooling systems, IT rack infrastructure, intelligent power distribution, enterprise infrastructure management software, security and environmental monitoring and held the positions of VP and General Manager, CEO and President. He also worked in executive roles at Consolidated Container Corporation, a provider of rigid plastic packaging solutions, and A123 Systems, a world leader in the development, manufacturing and sale of advanced battery technology and systems.
Rob earned his B.S. and Honorary Ph.D. in Engineering Management from the University of Missouri S&T.
